‘Another Night at the Club’ by Myesha Jenkins

12 January 2016 Poetry

I have heard you play

many times

over many years.

And still

on nights like tonight

when the moon is full

and there is only

a handful of people in the club

my heart opens up and

I forget how to breathe.

Caught in dreams of flying and freedom

your brilliance

knocks me down

reminding me of how I came

to love this thing

called jazz.
